Distributed Measurement of Aerodynamic Loads
A method for accurately measuring the drag associated with a protuberance on an aircraft has been devised and implemented in a wind tunnel using a C-130 model. The C-130 aircraft has been heavily modified for various different configurations and the impact that these modifications have had on the aerodynamic performance of the aircraft has not been well documented. This paper describes a method...
متن کاملAerodynamic Loads on Tall Buildings: Interactive Database
Under the action of wind, tall buildings oscillate simultaneously in the alongwind, acrosswind, and torsional directions. While the alongwind loads have been successfully treated using quasi-steady and strip theories in terms of gust loading factors, the acrosswind and torsional loads cannot be treated in this manner, since these loads cannot be related in a straightforward manner to the fluctu...
متن کاملAn accelerometer balance system for measurement of aerodynamic forcecoefficients
Different types of Large Carbon Cluster (LCC) layers are synthesized by a single-step pyrolysis technique at various ratios of precursor mixture. The aim is to develop a fast responsive and stable thermal gauge based on a LCC layer which has relatively good electrical conduction in order to use it in the hypersonic flow field. The thermoelectric property of the LCC layer has been studied. It is...
متن کاملcalculation of aircraft aerodynamic loads during operational flight
in this research, the calculation method of aerodynamic loads on an airplane in all flight situations is presented. in order to find an calculation equation for aerodynamic loads on an airplane in all flight conditions, the f-5 aircraft is selected as a prototype is divided into one hundred small parts longitudinally. therefore, the numerical solutions are taken place in different conditions of...
متن کاملAerodynamic loads on cactus-shaped cylinders at low Reynolds numbers
Direct numerical simulations of flow past cactus-shaped cylinders are performed at Reynolds numbers of 20, 100, and 300. The results are contrasted to those from smooth cylinders at the same Reynolds numbers. The cavities in the cactus-shaped cylinders are seen to reduce the forces acting on them. At Reynolds number of 20, the drag is reduced by 22% due to reduction in the viscous forces. At Re...
